We are proud to announce that Workforce Southwest Washington has secured federal funding championed by U.S. Senator Patty Murray as part of the recently passed appropriations package supporting key investments across Washington state.

Speaking on the Senate floor on February 9, 2026, Senator Murray underscored the importance of investing in workforce development:

“Of course, there is another important pipeline we need to be investing in as well, that is our skills pipeline, and there are several projects I helped fund in this bill that will help connect people with new skills and set them up to pursue promising careers.

I secured funding for Workforce Southwest Washington, which aims to provide over 200 people with career services and case management.”

This funding will allow WorkSource and Partners in Careers to provide comprehensive Career Services and Case Management to 206 individuals, helping at least 154 participants achieve and retain quality employment. Services will be tailored to individual needs and may include supportive services, education, and training.

The funding will also seed a Welcome Back Center at Clark College, offering individualized educational case management, career and educational planning assistance, resume support, guidance on professional licensing, alternative career resources, and referrals. Clark College will provide additional educational support and ESL classes as needed, working alongside Partners in Careers to ensure participants have the resources and guidance necessary to succeed in high-demand careers.

Dr. Edwards, President of Clark College, spoke on the importance of expanding access to training and education to support the growing diverse population of Clark county.

“We realize education and training are foundational to accessing better opportunities, achieving upward mobility, and meeting workforce demands. As our immigrant and refugee populations grow, they not only add to the diversity of Clark County but also to the economic well-being. Access to employment training , education, and wraparound support positions them for success and make a world of difference. Clark College is a proud partner in this effort.”

Christine Zabel, Executive Director of Partners in Careers, also shared how this funding will support and strengthen opportunities for the families and residents of Southwest Washington served by the organization

“Partners in Careers is grateful for this investment in employment and training services for immigrants and refugees in Southwest Washington. This opportunity will allow them to build stability, gain meaningful work experience, and connect with long-term career pathways. This investment strengthens our ability to walk alongside immigrants and refugees as they build new futures in our community. We’re excited for the impact this funding will have on the families we serve and look forward to continuing this important work alongside our partners.”

We are grateful to Senator Murray for securing these federal funds on behalf of our region. This investment will strengthen the capacity of our organization and our partners to support local education, employment, and training services. The impact of these resources will help expand opportunities for individuals, strengthen our workforce economy, and benefit communities across the region.
